LOS ANGELES, CA – (Marketwire – 17 December 2010) - automobile club of Southern California is the projection local travel will increase by 3 per cent in 2009 year-end holiday. Approximately 7.2 million of Southland residents should take a trip of 50 miles or during the Christmas-New Year trip.
As with the Thanksgiving Feast, the vast majority of travellers is expected to lead to their destination. Eighty-one percent of California southern travellers or 6.6 million people will travel by car this holiday - also a 3% increase last year. Less than 300,000 local travellers are planned to fly – an increase of 2.9% in 2009, while less than 350,000 planning a cruise, bus travel travel by train or another type of travel, an increase of 1.8%.
Throughout the State, 11.6 million passengers are expected to make getaway holiday 10.6 million passenger car, 478,000 passenger plane, 560 000 travellers pass through other means.
National travel also plans to increase by about 3% in the last year, with 92 million Americans should take vacation, travel. Approximately 93 per cent of their, or 85.7 million, will lead to their destinations.
"The number of passenger and cruise is still lower than in previous years, but we were moving in the right direction for 2010," said Filomena Andre, Vice-President of the club car travel products and services. "Our members who travel more, spend more and often goes long distances to travel."
In a separate survey conducted by the Auto Club in November and December, holiday, 75 per cent of travellers and said they were spending at least $500 on their Getaways vacation, compared with only 52 per cent in 2009. In addition, 33 percent plan to spend at least $1,500 on their passenger trips, compared to 17% in 2009.
